SouthEast Asian Nation (ASEAN) congress of Cardiology

Kalbe International participates in the 17th Asean Congress of Cardiology Vietnam

The Seventeenth Association of SouthEast Asian Nation (ASEAN) congress of Cardiology or 17^th ACC has already held and taking place from October 18 – 21, 2008 at the National Convention Center, Hanoi – Vietnam.

With the theme “ Together to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease in ASEAN “ , the 17^th summit was calling people throughout the vast and crowded areas of Southeast countries to unify in facing the growing challenge of cardiovascular diseases.

Nearly 1500 doctors from Vietnam ( approximately 800 local delegates) and 350 foreign delegates from more than 30 countries around the world, and cardiologists from the American College of Cardiology (ACC) as well as eminent cardiologists from the heart associations of Europe, Japan, China and most especially colleagues from the ASEAN countries.

Main congress began from 19^th to 21^st October 2008, after the opening ceremony and the convocation of Fellow of ASEAN College of Cardiology, and there were traditional remarks in memory to Dr. Sukaman, the honor founder of AFC. Before the main congress, Pre-congress event to be held at October 18^th , 2008 with some interventional case and epidemiological problem in Cardiology.

Opening and welcome speech from Prof Pham Gia Khai, MD as President of Vietnam National Heart Association, Prof . Idris Idham, MD as ASEAN President of Cardiology and opened by Deputy of Prime Minister Republic of Vietnam.

Many academic concurrent sessions happened simultaneously at different rooms, and the main congress focused on multiple subjects in cardiology and other related specialties including more than 250 plenary and overview presentations as well as nearly 200 free papers regarding hypertension, heart failure, myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, cardiac valves diseases, arrhytmias and congenital heart diseases. There were also interventional cardiology conference with several cases transmitted from Vietnam National Heart Institute and Hanoi hospital.

Beside academic activities, there were also be many networking and social culture interaction such as ASEAN culture night, local tours and Pharmaceutical & Medical device exhibition. Pharmaceutical exhibition were followed by approximately 50 booths and Kalbe International, Pte, Ltd was one of these pharmaceuticals which participated in this event. In our Kalbe International booths, there was some activities and also introduce and promotion of some our Kalbe products such as Asomex (S-Amlodipine, Ca Channel Blocker), Angioten (Losartan, ARB) and V-Bloc (Carvedilol, beta blocker).
